On 9 May, more than 60 guests gathered in Belgrade to celebrate the charter of Rotary Club Beograd Wellbeing. For us, this was much more than a formal ceremony. It was the beginning of a shared journey rooted in service, fellowship, and a deep belief that wellbeing belongs in the centre of community life.
Our club brings together 28 women from different professional backgrounds, united by one idea: wellbeing should not remain only a beautiful word. It should become a living practice that shapes the way we support individuals, families, and the wider community.
That is how our club was founded; with a clear mission. We want to create projects that support mental, emotional, physical, social, and family wellbeing. We believe that stronger communities begin with people who feel seen, supported, connected, and empowered.
Our charter evening was especially meaningful because it brought together friends from across the Rotary family. We were honoured by the presence of distinguished Rotary and Rotaract leaders from District 2483, whose support made this milestone even more memorable. During the ceremony, our sponsor club, Rotary Club Beograd Skadarlija, presented us with a bell, a unique artistic gift that symbolized both responsibility and a new beginning. Our charter president, Jasmina Đokić, rang the bell and officially opened the celebration, a moment that many of us will remember for a long time.
From the very beginning, we wanted our club’s first major event to create a visible and lasting impact. For that reason, our charter celebration was also a fundraising event. The funds raised will support the purchase and planting of 30 Japanese cherry trees in Belgrade, creating a future wellbeing corner for the people of our city.
For us, this project carries strong symbolism. Japanese cherry blossoms remind us of beauty, renewal, and the importance of every new beginning. We wanted the first step of our club to reflect exactly that spirit: something gentle, hopeful, and lasting, offered to the community.
As we begin our Rotary journey, we do so with gratitude and responsibility. We are proud to become part of the global Rotary family, and we hope our work will show that service can also mean creating spaces of care, balance, dignity, and human connection.
This charter was our beginning. Now the real work begins.
